DATE & TIME
13 November 2023 to 24 November 2023
VENUE
Ramanujan Lecture Hall

The representation theory of infinite-dimensional Lie (super)algebras, Quantum groups, and Vertex algebras is an active area of research with deep connections to other areas of mathematics and to physics. The first week of this program will be a workshop consisting of four mini-courses (6 lectures each) on various themes in modern representation theory.

  1. Vertex algebras and associated varieties (Anne Moreau, Université Paris-Saclay, France)
  2. Representations of quantum affine algebras and yangians (Arun Ram, University of Melbourne, Australia)
  3. Representations of quantum superalgebras and their crystal bases (Jae-Hoon Kwon, Seoul National University, Republic of Korea)
  4. The eigenvalue problem for reductive groups (Shrawan Kumar, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA)

These lectures will be aimed at graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and researchers who wish to enter the field. The second week of this program will be on “Algebraic and Combinatorial Methods in Representation Theory,” which will be a major gathering of researchers working in the representation theory of infinite dimensional Lie algebras, quantum groups, vertex algebras, and related fields. The goal of the program is to present current progress in many aspects of Lie theory and related representation theory, to highlight its interactions with other areas of mathematics and physics and attract researchers to work on outstanding problems and challenges. The program will provide an occasion to celebrate the fundamental contributions of Vyjayanthi Chari, a pioneer in the subject who turns 65 this year. Young mathematicians are encouraged to apply, especially those interested in these fields.

Eligibility criteria: All are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to researchers who work in areas related to the themes of the program.

Accommodation will be provided for outstation participants at our on campus guest house.

ICTS is committed to building an environment that is inclusive, non-discriminatory and welcoming of diverse individuals. We especially encourage the participation of women and other under-represented groups.
