The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Bangalore is inviting applications for postdoctoral positions in Physics and Mathematics for the year 2016-2017. The positions are nominally for two years from the time of joining with possibility of extension for the third year. In addition to regular positions, ICTS offers prize postdoctoral fellowship positions (Simons and Airbus fellowships) for suitable candidates.

Eligibility
Applications are invited from highly motivated young scientists with PhDs in theoretical physics, interdisciplinary and applied mathematics, astronomy, theoretical physical chemistry, theoretical physical biology and related fields. Individuals who have submitted their doctoral thesis are also encouraged to apply.

Salary and Benefits
For regular fellowship positions, the monthly salary structure is: 32,000 INR (for thesis submitted), 36,000 INR (PhD), 38,000 INR (PhD+1 year), and 40,000 INR (PhD + 2 years). Each fellow also receives a contingency grant of 32,000 INR per annum. In addition, the fellows are eligible for on campus accommodation (or housing allowance @30% of the honorarium) and medical benefits (identical to those currently available to the employees of NCBS-TIFR). For the prize fellowships (Simons and Airbus postdoctoral fellowships), the monthly salary is 60,000 INR, a housing allowance of 15,000 INR per month and medical benefits.  In addition, they will have travel support of 200,000 INR (per annum) and a research grant of 200,000 INR (per year) for computing services, relocation, publishing and other direct costs. They will also be eligible to apply for grants offered by external funding agencies.

About ICTS
ICTS is a new initiative in Indian science, with a mandate to contribute to frontier research by providing a platform devoted to theoretical natural sciences and interdisciplinary and applied mathematics through its various programs.
