Abstract
I will discuss the symplectic structure of non-local field theories and its role in defining conserved quantities, with particular emphasis on the energy of rolling tachyon solutions. I will describe how this framework arises in a Wilsonian effective theory, which serves as a toy model for the more general string field theory setting.
