Abstract
In this talk, we will cover the fundamentals of quantum key distribution (QKD) : what it is, what it achieves, and the principles behind its working. We will also cover aspects of practical quantum key distribution, and some aspects of the theoretical analysis of such protocols. Finally, I will try to give an overview of the current status of the field, and major open problems.
