Abstract

Merging binaries containing compact objects such as black holes and neutron stars emit gravitational waves, which are detected in ground-based interferometers. In order to follow these detections up, as well as to draw astrophysical conclusions from them, we need to infer the parameters of the sources. I will review the methods used for this inference, and describe recent work on accelerating the process and making it more robust.
