Arrival at Bangalore (by air):

If you are arriving at Bangalore international airport, below is information about getting to the venue.

(1) Look out for someone holding a placard saying `GT &RG 2010'. They will help you with taking a taxi (this also helps us keep track of arrivals). Volunteers will be around from evening to past midnight on the day before the conference and at arrival times of invited speakers (if we have been notified).

(2) In case you have to make your own way, please take a taxi at the official airport taxi stand. Details are below:

(a) Main lemma :
Ignore anyone who approaches you and asks if you want a taxi, even if they seem to be from a respectable company.
(b) The airport taxi boarding point is outside the terminal building to the left of the exit and 2-3 curbs away from where you exit. There are clear signs saying `Airport taxi' and `Airport taxi boarding point'. At the boarding point there will be a row of taxis - all sedans of the same make (Renault Logan) which are either white (companies Easycab and KSTDC) or Green (Meru).
(c) At the head of the queue an official will take down your names and destinations. These are well regulated metered taxis. The fare will be between Rs.500 and Rs.600 to be paid on reaching the destination.
(d) Give the taxi driver the address of the place of accommodation (below). This will suffice.

Arrival by train:
Look for a pre-paid auto counter outside the building. Otherwise follow the same directions as air.

Accommodation information:
Below are the addresses of the various places at which we have arranged accommodation. We will notify you individually about where your accommodation is arranged.

(a) (main) Guest house, Indian Institute of Science (IISc): Locally, the Indian Institute of Science is known as `Tata Institute'. This is a name recognised all over the city - you should give this as the address (there is another smaller Tata Institute - but asking forboth IISc and `Tata Institute' will suffice).

Local Transport:
For those staying at Krishington or Basil, there will be taxis at these venues ferrying people to the conference. Please have your (complementary) breakfast at the hotel and make your way in a taxi. Krishington is also walking distance from the venue.

Venue of the conference:
The lectures will be in the faculty hall of IISc. This is a conspicuous building on campus with a tower on it and a `Tata statue' opposite the building. Ask for `Tata tower' or `Tata statue' or follow these directions:

(a) From the Guest house: Exit the gate of the guest house and keep going straight. In a few minutes you will see the building on your right. This is essentially the first building on your right after a green quadrangle.

(b) From the main gate. Go straight along the main road. You will see the building on your right soon.

Weather:
Expect some rain, especially in the evening. Otherwise the weather will be pleasant.
