Deciphering genome-wide regulatory networks that control cell identity and cell fate has been of interest to systems biologists since the start of this century. This effort has always been inherently interdisciplinary, involving close collaboration between biologists, physicists, and computer scientists. With the rapid advances in high-throughput experimental assays, it is now possible to measure, at genome-scale, protein-DNA interactions, local chromatin structure, distal chromatin interactions, RNA dynamics, and much more. There is a pressing need for new computational techniques that can learn predictive models from such large and, at times, noisy data. The aim of the workshop is two-fold. The first is to train early career computational biologists in modelling complex biological systems, from handling and visualising large-scale genomic data to constructing regulatory networks and predictive models. The second is to bring together leading international and Indian researchers working in this field to discuss open questions that can be answered using such data.

Eligibility Criteria: This program is targeted towards graduate students and researchers with an interest in learning the theory and practice of algorithms driving modern computational biology. Applicants should have a foundational background in biology, physics, computer science, or statistics, along with basic programming skills. Senior undergraduates with a similar background may also apply.

Accommodation will be provided for outstation participants at our on-campus guest house.

ICTS is committed to building an environment that is inclusive, non-discriminatory, and welcoming of diverse individuals. We especially encourage the participation of women and other under-represented groups.

Support: The event is partly supported by the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA); BIOSANTEXC, Franco-Indian Campus in Life sciences and health; and the IMSc Centre for Disease Modelling, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai.
