Abstract:
ಮನುಷ್ಯರಂತೆ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳಿಗೂ ಜೀವನಚಕ್ರವಿದೆ. ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳ ಜೀವನ ಚಕ್ರಯವು ಅವುಗಳ ಭಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವಲಂಬಿತವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಹಂತ, ಅನಿಲ ಮತ್ತು ಧೂಳಿನ ಮೋಡಗಳು ಕುಸಿದು ಪ್ರೋಟೋಸ್ಟಾರ್ ಆಗಿ ರೂಪುಗೊಳ್ಳುವಾಗ ಆರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನಂತರ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರವು ತನ್ನ ಜೀವನದ ಬಹುಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿ (main sequence) ಕಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಜಲಜನಕ (hydrogen) ಸಂಯೋಜನೆಯಿಂದ ಬೆಳಕು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ನಂತರ ಅದು ಕೆಂಪು ದೈತ್ಯವಾಗಿ (red giant) ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಭಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಿ ಶ್ವೇತ ಬೌನ (white dwarf), ನ್ಯೂಟ್ರಾನ್ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರ ಅಥವಾ ಕಪ್ಪು ರಂಧ್ರವಾಗಿ (black hole) ಅಂತ್ಯಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳ ಈ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಪ್ರಯಾಣವನ್ನು ಅವುಗಳ ಜೀವನದ ಹಂತಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ನೋಡೋಣ.
