62 students from grades 9 and 10 of Basil Woods International School visited ICTS on 22 July 2026, accompanied by their teachers. The students interacted with Prof. Joseph Samuel and Mr. Madhusudan H R from ICTS.
Prof. Samuel discussed with the students their understanding of energy and introduced the concepts of heat and work. The students then saw steam engines in action and made their own rubber band refrigerators.
In that session that followed, Mr. Madhusudan emphasized the importance of experiments in science. He used the cases of a slow-falling magnet in an aluminium pipe and the sound produced by an aluminium pipe in water to discuss aspects of science experiments, including what sets a scientific experiment apart from, say, simply an observation or an activity.
