In light of the Lunar Eclipse, we held an event from 5 PM to 7 PM at the ICTS campus on 7th September 2025. The event was coordinated by the Outreach team in association with the ICTS Astro club. It was aimed at the people living in and around Hesaraghatta - primarily staff and their children.
Sanjana Anand from Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum delivered a talk in Kannada on the theme ’The Moon’s Journey: Story of Our Celestial Neighbour’. The talk drew from our daily life and culture to discuss the moon, shadow formation, and the eclipse, and also featured activities to inspire ideas from the audience.
An activity session for the visitors followed the talk. They talked with the keen volunteers from ICTS about gravity, the eclipse, other moons in the solar system, among many other things. They brought together the ideas they encountered during the evening by creating clay models of planets, Oreo cookie moon phases, and coloring pictures of planets and moons. The event had 98 attendees, comprising 58 adults and 40 children, and was a joyful mix of science and community.
