The project aims to understand the dynamics of the Indian ocean and improve the predictions of ocean state through assimilation of data into the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) adapted to the Indian ocean. Specifically, the successful candidate will work on developing and implementing the Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) method for assimilation of Argo float data into ROMS. He/she will also devise numerical experiments to expose the strengths and shortcomings of EnKF.
