International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of TIFR invites candidates for the following positions for its office at Bangalore.

1 Technical Support Engineer (HPC/Networking) 

Qualification: B Tech/BE in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology

Experience: 1-2 years

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Specific knowledge of Debian and Red Hat platforms.
  • Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux, Linux services, and Linux networking.
  • Experience in large-scale high performance computing environments.
  • Familiarity with HPC concepts and practices in the context of academic research.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in scripting in Perl, Python, or bash.
  • Experience with Linux kernel modules, preferably for Lustre, NVIDIA GPUs, and Mellanox InfiniBand cards.
  • Familiarity with the cluster resource managers such as Torque/Maui and HTCondor, including the setup and maintenance.
  • Experience with MPI and openMP.
  • Familiarity with using and troubleshooting compilers, libraries and programming languages (PGI, MPI, Intel compilers, GCC, C, Fortran, CUDA, etc.)
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, firewall management, and database administration
  • Strong server administration experience in Linux Servers (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, VPN, Proxy)
  • Knowledge of protocols and strong troubleshooting skills and experience in LAN & WAN.

The Technical Support Engineer’s responsibilities will include the following:

  • Regular management of the data center facility and HPC clusters at the ICTS-TIFR Campus.
  • Monitor and tune HPC clusters to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Provide monitoring and prompt response to support requests, technical questions and problems encountered by the users.
  • Configuration of the scheduling systems according to the specified user policies.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Documentation of the HPC environment as well as documenting system administration policies and procedures.
  • Install and maintain network hardware and software
2 IT Assistant - Technician (AV)

Essential Qualification: Diploma in Computer Science OR B.Sc (Computer Science) OR BCA Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA)

Desirable experience: 6 months of hands-on training will be preferred.

  • Set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for seminars, discussion meetings and public lectures
  • Set up and operate sound equipment
  • Set up and operate spotlights
  • Monitor sound feeds to ensure quality
  • Test and resolve equipment issues
  • Switch video input sources from one camera to another
  • Clean audio and video equipment and store properly
  • Maintain inventory of AV equipment

Location:  ICTS campus, Hessarghatta  Bangalore

Upper Age limit: Upper age limit 28 years (as on 01.01.2016)

Salary: Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualification and potential. The selected candidate will be required to join immediately.

Tenure: The contract will be initially for a period of One (1) year which may be extended up to maximum of three years depending upon the performance of the candidate.
