The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a premier research centre (an Autonomous, Grant-in-Aid Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India), invites highly motivated and self-driven individuals for a recruitment for the post of Project Associate - II to work on a project on ‘Anomalous heat transport in open classical interacting many-particle systems’ at its Bengaluru office. The candidates should have the following qualifications and experience.

Project Associate - II

  • Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/ MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and

  • 2 years’ experience in nonequilibrium statistical mechanics and stochastic process in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services 

  • Rs. 35,000/- + HRA

 

Job Profile: The project offers excellent opportunities for fundamental research. The study will be computational and analytical, and will involve the study of anomalous behaviour in heat transport through materials in low dimensional systems at macroscopic level. The candidate will be expected to work on analytical and computational techniques for open classical stochastic systems with many interacting particles. The ideal project assistant should be extremely strong academically, especially in mathematics and scientific computation.

Upper Age Limit: ​35 years (as on 01st Jan 2020)

Tenure: ​Initial appointment will be for 6 months which may be extended depending upon the individual’s performance and the requirements of the Centre. The selected candidate will be required to join immediately.

Location:  ICTS campus, Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru (please report at the main reception on arrival). Candidates may use the ICTS shuttles from the IISc or NCBS campus. The bus schedule is available on the ICTS website.
