ICTS faculty member Vijay Kumar Krishnamurthy is part of a global cohort of interdisciplinary researchers who have been awarded a prestigious Templeton Foundation Grant to investigate new conceptual frameworks for understanding ‘Agency, Directionality and Function’ in living systems. Prof. Krishnamurthy and ICTS Senior Associate Prof. Vidyanand Nanjundiah are part of the project ‘Cellular Agency in Multicellular Development and Cancer’ led by Stuart Newman of New York Medical College.

According to the team, ‘This project seeks to provide experimental, computational, mathematical, and philosophical characterizations of the physical conditions relevant to the transitions from cellular to multicellular agency in the evolution of development.’
