Max Planck Partner Group in Astrophysical Relativity and Gravitational-Wave Astronomy at ICTS
The Max Planck Society, Germany and the Department of Science and Technology, India have awarded a grant to set up a Max Planck Partner Group in Astrophysical Relativity and Gravitational-Wave Astronomy at the ICTS-TIFR with Dr Parameswaran Ajith as the head.
Max-Planck Partner Groups allow Indian scientists of proven scientific excellence who are former guest researchers of Max Planck Institutes to continue close research cooperation with the Max Planck Institutes. The work of each of the Partner Groups is supported for five years. Professor Bruce Allen’s division at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) in Hannover is the German partner of ICTS.
Scientists in the Astrophysical Relativity group at ICTS are interested in various astrophysical applications of Albert Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity, in particular in different aspects of gravitational-wave physics and astronomy. Group members have active involvement in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration and the IndIGO consortium.
