ICTS Management Board member and ICTS Program Committee chair Mahan Mj has received the Vigyan Shri Award in mathematics and computer science. The Vigyan Shri Award is presented annually to distinguished scientists across various disciplines for their outstanding contributions to research and innovation.
Prof. Mahan Mj, currently professor of mathematics at TIFR Mumbai, works on geometric group theory, low-dimensional topology and complex geometry. He proved a key conjecture in the Thurston program to understand hyperbolic 3-manifolds, and went on to develop new methods for probing the fundamental groups of complex manifolds.
