ICTS Visiting Professor B. Sury has been named a Senior Scientist of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI). Prof. Sury has been associated with ICTS since his retirement from the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Bengaluru.

His research spans several areas of algebra and number theory, including algebraic groups over global and local fields and their rings, arithmetic groups, the congruence subgroup problem, bounded generation, division algebras, central extensions of groups, Milnor K1 and K2, Bak’s unitary groups, and Diophantine equations. His work also includes applications of prime density theorems, zero-sum problems in number theory, class groups of number fields, and the representation theory of metabelian groups.

ICTS warmly congratulates Prof. Sury on this well-deserved recognition of his contributions.
