ICTS-Infosys Madhava Chair Professor Ashoke Sen has been elected as an International Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAA&S), one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the United States. His election has also been specially highlighted in the Academy’s official announcement.
 
Prof. Sen has received numerous prestigious honours over the course of his career, including the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics (2012), the Dirac Medal (2014), and the Infosys Prize in Mathematical Sciences (2009), along with earlier recognitions such as the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (1994) and the ICTP Prize (1989). He has also been honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri (2001) and the Padma Bhushan (2013). In addition, he is a Fellow of the Royal Society, one of the highest distinctions in science.
 
On behalf of everyone at ICTS, Centre Director Rajesh Gopakumar said, “All of us at ICTS can take special pride in Ashoke’s election. I wish him many more productive years of research ahead at ICTS and cherish his presence at the centre which has made such a big difference.” 
 
This recognition adds to the growing list of AAA&S honours for ICTS, with Infosys-ICTS Homi Bhabha Chair Professor and Founding Director Spenta Wadia also elected as an international honorary member in 2024.
