In 2011, the 150th birth anniversary year of Tagore, Bangalore Little Theatre paid a tribute to Rabindranath Tagore, highlighting his work for and with children. It was done through the original play script, Robi’s Garden. The material for the theatrical production is drawn from a great fund of Tagore’s comical writing, enjoyed equally by children and grown-up audiences. This includes verse, prose, short stories, plays, sketches (his “riddle plays”), fantasies, autobiographical writing (esp. his childhood memories), and the letters to his granddaughter and other children.

In May 2024, Vijay Padaki, the author of this play, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by ASSITEJ, the international association for the promotion of Theatre for Young Audiences.
