Mode Coupling Theory

Abstract

We first present a historical perspective of the mode coupling theory, starting with collective and single particle dynamics. We covered Navier-Stokes equations, de Gennes' narrowing and extended hydrodynamics before embarking on derivation of the relaxation equation by projection operator technique. We then discussed construction of the memory function by mode coupling theory (MCT). We discussed three examples from literature.

In the second part we discussed the mode coupling theory of glass transition and the long time tails.
