VENUE
Madhava Lecture Hall, ICTS Bengaluru

The ICTS Astrophysics & Relativity group will organize a Study Hub of the Gravitational Wave Open Data Workshop 2023 at the ICTS campus. The workshop will include a set of lectures followed by hands-on tutorial sessions. Participants will get to learn state-of-the-art data analysis tools used by the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration to detect and analyse the gravitational wave signals from compact binary mergers.

The Study Hub will run on May 16th and May 17th. The workshop is only open to individuals residing in the Bangalore area. ICTS is unable to provide accommodation. There will be shuttle buses available from IISc to ICTS (Shuttle pick up point: IISc gate opposite BHEL Office) and return to IISc.

Eligibility: The workshop is meant for postgraduate and PhD students interested in GW astronomy and related fields. A small number of highly motivated final-year undergraduate students will also be considered. Participants are expected to know programming in Python and have a basic understanding of time-series analysis and statistical methods. Some background in gravitational wave astronomy is preferred.

ICTS is committed to building an environment that is inclusive, non-discriminatory and welcoming of diverse individuals. We especially encourage the participation of women and other under-represented groups.
