Abstract: We will explore the fascinating history and the exciting present of machines that learn, and view a "live" performance of some simple machines as they learn.
About the Speaker: Piyush Srivastava is an Associate Professor at the School of Technology and Computer Science (STCS), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. His research interests broadly encompass probability in computer science, statistics, and statistical mechanics, with a particular focus on the connections between algorithms and phase transitions. He holds an undergraduate degree from IIT Kanpur, a PhD from UC Berkeley, and previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at Caltech.
