09:30 to 11:00 Sudipta Sarkar (IIT Gandhinagar, India) Wald's covariant phase space formalism - I
11:30 to 13:00 Nils Andersson (University of Southampton, Southampton, UK) Neutron star perturbation theory - I

In this series of 5 lectures I will introduce the mathematics and physics required to model neutron star dynamics. This will include the basics of relativistic fluid dynamics, perturbation theory, thermodynamics and the equation of state along with a set of applications. The focus will be on seismology-related problems relevant for gravitational-wave astronomy. In particular, we will explore neutron star oscillations and instabilities and dynamical tides in binary systems.
