The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Bengaluru, a premier research centre (an Autonomous, Grant-in-Aid Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and a Deemed University) invites candidates for a walk-in recruitment process for the following temporary positions.

1.

Scientific Assistant - IT

 

No. of posts - 01

  • Science Graduate (60% marks) OR SSC/HSC and Diploma in Engineering (60% marks).

  • Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in handling IT & networking equipment in a large/ reputed organization.

  • Working knowledge of Windows, Linux and Mac operating system (installation, configuration & troubleshooting).

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently.

  • Setup and deploy new workstations/ laptops/ printers and Break/ Fix (Linux, Windows and Macs);

  • Setup and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for seminars, discussion meetings and public lectures;

  • Install and upgrade hardwares/ softwares;

  • Assist with the procurement process of IT/ AV equipment and its supplies;

  • Independently carry out troubleshooting of software/ hardware/ network (LAN/ WAN) by applying basic knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCPIP/ DHCP/ DNS/ LDAP/ SSL/ HTTP);

  • Keep all the systems up-to-date with patches and security fixes and provide appropriate IT/AV assistance to the end-users as and when required.

Scientific Assistant - Web

 

No. of posts - 01

  • Science Graduate (60% marks) OR SSC/HSC and Diploma in Engineering (60% marks).

  • Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Web development  in a large/ reputed organization.

  • Hands on Drupal experience (version 7 preferred); strong experience in customizing existing modules and creating custom modules; hands-on experience in Drupal theme creation from HTML would be appreciated.

  • Strong Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Web2.0 (JQuery / Ajax).

  • Strong knowledge of PHP and MySQL; experience in using caching tools and working on optimizing the database.

  • Clear understanding of complete website hosting.

  • Excellent problem solving,  communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently.

  • Responsible for upkeep and smooth functionality of the website which involves maintenance of Drupal websites.

  • Update data on the websites.

  • Develop/customize modules on Drupal websites as per requirements.

  • Understand the requirement of users and mapping them into technical document for developing website.

  • Test the web modules independently.

  • Liaise with the users of website.

  • Design additional features and upgrade the website;

  • Maintenance of current and upcoming websites, web portals and web services.

  • Monitor security and, track, compile, and analyze web site usage/ traffic data and provide data as and when required;

  • Work with scientists, designers and content writers for continued improvement of the ICTS digital presence;

  • Mentor of interns on web-related tasks.

Scientific Assistant - Audio Visual

  • Science Graduate (60% marks) OR SSC/HSC and Diploma in Engineering (60% marks).

  • Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in  handling Audio Visual equipment in a large/ reputed organization.

  • Diploma in Computer Science/Electronics & Communications OR B.Sc. (Computer Science) OR Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) with 60% marks from a recognized organization.

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently.


 
  • Set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for seminars, discussion meetings and public lectures;

  • Set up and operate sound equipment;

  • Set up and operate spotlights;

  • Monitor sound feeds to ensure quality;

  • Test and resolve equipment issues;

  • Switch video input sources from one camera to another;

  • Clean audio and video equipment and store properly;

  • Maintain inventory of Audio Visual equipment.

Other details regarding the positions are given below:

Salary: Rs. 45,500/ month (Consolidated).

Tenure: ​These are temporary, fixed tenure post. ​Initial appointment will be for six months which may be extended upto 1 year maximum depending upon the individual’s performance and the requirements of the Centre. Selected candidate will be required to join immediately.

Upper Age Limit: ​28 years (as on 1st Jan. 2019).
