Abstract

To date general relativity (GR) has passed all experimental tests with flying colours. The inconsistency of classical GR and quantum mechanics, particularly near singularities, however suggest modifications to GR may be inevitable. In this talk, I will present three aspects of scalar-tensor theories for spherical objects that I’m particularly interested in − the stability in the linear regime and QNM frequencies, the nonlinear regime in the spherical case with collapse and fully nonlinear regime with gravitational waves from boson stars.
