Applications are invited for CEFIPRA Postdoctoral Fellowships in Statistical Physics at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Bangalore. This position is part of the joint project supported by Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research/Centre Franco-Indien pour la Promotion de la Recherche Avancée (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA) grant 5604-2. All applicants will be automatically considered for the regular ICTS postdoc positions also.

Eligibility
Applications are invited from highly motivated young scientists with a proven track record. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Physics or related fields (Statistical Physics) with excellent track record. The candidate is expected to carry out research on the topic of extreme statistics and large deviations in various systems, in particular in out-of-equilibrium systems. The candidate is expected to have broad interests in statistical physics with analytical and numerical expertise.

Salary and benefits
The postdoctoral position will be for two years. The position carries a competitive salary and housing allowance as per norms equivalent to the regular postdoctoral positions at ICTS. Fellows can also opt for free Institute accommodation in lieu of the housing allowance. In addition, fellows shall receive health insurance and a contingency research grant per year as per institute norms. Fellows will also have the opportunity to apply for additional travel and research grants offered by the ICTS as well as the national funding agencies.

Statistical Physics
In India, the candidate is expected to interact with researchers from the International Center for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR) at Bangalore (Abhishek Dhar and Anupam Kundu) and Raman Research Institute at Bangalore (Sanjib Sabhapandit). The research will also include strong collaborations with three Institutes in France: LPTMS (S. N. Majumdar, A. Rosso, G. Schehr and C. Texier), IPhT (K. Mallick) and the Laboratoire J. A. Dieudonné at Nice (C. Bernardin).
