ICTS faculty member Rama Govindarajan’s publication (in collaboration with Sumithra Reddy Yerasi and Dario Vincenzi of the Université Côte d'Azur, CNRS), titled ‘Spirographic Motion in a Vortex’ was highlighted as Editor’s Suggestion in Physics Review Fluids.

An inertialess passive particle near a vortex stays the same distance from the vortex centre forever and keeps going round and round in circles at a constant rate. What happens when two such particles are connected by a rigid weightless rod? This work shows that the resulting object executes complex spirographic motion, and the type of motion depends on the initial conditions.
