Dr. Samriddhi Sankar Ray received the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Cray HPC Award for 2019, on 6 July 2019, at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune.
The award was instituted in 2016, in the memory of India’s former president and scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, by Cray, a USA based company that manufactures supercomputers. Scientists with outstanding contributions in research related or relying on high performance computing (HPC) are chosen for this award each year. Samriddhi was recognized for his contributions in using numerical simulations to understand turbulence and turbulent transport from the point of view of statistical physics.
