The first part talks about the key concerns of machine learning. And how these concerns are addressed mathematically. It introduces the concepts and ideas, and sets the stage for the second and third parts of the talk.
The second part talks about the successes of machine learning. How it's being applied in various scenarios. And what are the problems that these real world machine learning systems face.
The third part talks about interesting connections that have started appearing between fields - machine learning, physics, mathematics, biological systems, social systems etc. It looks at the directions along which machine learning research is progressing, and explores some unanswered questions.
