Abstract

The Moonshine module is a c = 24 conformal field theory (CFT) whose automorphism group is the Monster group. In a 1988 paper, it was argued by Dixon, Ginsparg, and Harvey that there exists a "non-local Z_2 cover" of the Moonshine CFT with superconformal symmetry. But they did not provide an explicit construction of a superconformal current. In this talk, I will explain the precise notion of a "Z_2 cover" of a CFT, called spin lift in modern terminology, and describe how to explicitly construct a supercurrent in the spin lift of the Moonshine CFT using error correcting codes.
