Selected Candidates through the TIFR admission test 2017

ADMISSIONS

All applicants are required to appear for national level entrance tests (TIFR graduate studies admission test, JEST, GATE or UGC/CSIR test for JRF) conducted at different centers nationally. These entrance tests will cover basic topics in physics, mathematics or engineering. Top candidates from these tests can apply to appear in the next phase of the selection process. Performance in the national level entrance test, along with the additional information requested in the online application form will be used to short list candidates for interviews conducted at ICTS.

Students selected for the Integrated PhD program will have to do about two and half years (BSc graduates) or two years (BTech/ MTech/ BS graduates) of coursework at the beginning of the program, while those selected for the PhD program will have to do about one and half years of coursework. The coursework also includes research projects and reading/seminar courses. On successful completion of the coursework, students can choose their line of research and register for their PhD. Some details of graduate course work can be found here. Successful candidates will receive a degree through the Physics Subject Board of the TIFR Graduate School.

Admission tests

The first level of selection to the ICTS graduate program is performed using results from the following national exams:

Candidates with M.Tech. / M.E. / M.S. (Engg.) can submit their earlier scores of GATE / equivalent. The dates and centers of all the tests are advertised in major national newspapers.  The cutoff ranks/score  for the 2017 admission are:
