A postdoctoral position for two years is available for a candidate (Indian citizen) in statistical physics at Universite Paris-Sud, Orsay (at laboratoire de physique théorique et modèles statisques (LPTMS)). This position starts in the fall of 2017. The deadline for the application is March, 29, 2017.

The candidate is expected to carry out research on the topic of extreme statistics and large deviations in various systems, in particular in out-of-equilibrium systems. The candidate is expected to have broad interests in statistical physics with analytical and numerical expertise.

This position is part of the joint project supported by Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research/Centre Franco-Indien pour la Promotion de la Recherche Avancée (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA) grant 5604-2. In France, the candidate is expected to interact with researchers from LPTMS (S. N. Majumdar, A. Rosso, G. Schehr and C. Texier), IPhT (K. Mallick) and the Laboratoire J. A. Dieudonné at Nice (C. Bernardin). The research will also include strong collaborations with two Institutes in India: International Center for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR) at Bangalore (A. Dhar and A. Kundu) and Raman Research Institute at Bangalore (S. Sabhapandit).
