The purpose of WHEPP-XII, like that of all previous WHEPPs, will be to foster vigorous interactions between the Indian particle physics community and their international counterparts and to spawn collaborations spread not only across the country, but across the world. For this purpose, a small number of review talks will be kept in the plenary sessions. In these talks, well-known international experts will be asked to review the latest developments in different sub-areas of the field and set the stage for detailed discussions. For a list of review talks, click on this link.

During the Workshop, the working hours will be 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, with breaks for coffee and lunch. Details of the working schedule may be found on this page.

The actual research activity will be carried out in four Working Groups (WG) – two during the First Week, and the other two during the Second Week. Working Group activity during the Workshop is very flexible - it can take the form of talks, led discussions, pedagogic or hands-on sessions, sitting in small groups and discussing problems, scanning literature, performing calculations, running computers, or even silent meditation if that is found necessary.. This work will be loosely coordinated by the Working Group Coordinators, according to the themes given below.

FIRST WEEK  : Jan 02 – 08, 2012

WG I. Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
1. CMB (incl. statistical analysis) and the early Universe (inflation)
2. Dark energy: theory and observation (incl. structure formation)
3. Dark matter: theory and observation/experiments
4. Astrophysical constraints on particle phenomenology

WG II. Non-perturbative Strong Interaction Physics
1. QCD at Finite Temperature and Density
2. Lattice QCD Computations and Results
3. Heavy Ion Collisions
4. PDF’s, Spin Physics and Effective Field Theories

SECOND WEEK : Jan 09 – 15, 2012

WG III. Collider Physics and Perturbative QCD
1. New physics beyond the Standard Model
2. LHC physics, especially direct searches for new physics
3. Linear collider physics, including LHC-ILC synergy
4. pQCD, especially in the context of LHC physics

WG IV. Model-building, flavour and neutrino physics
1. Model-building beyond the Standard Model, esp. in the flavour sector
2. Rare decays and CP violation, especially in B Physics
3. Neutrino Oscillations and PMNS matrix determination
4. Neutrino Mass Models, Lepton Flavour Violation and Leptogenesis

Detailed activities of the Working Groups may be obtained from their individual web pages. Preliminary activity can be carried out through these web-pages as guided by the Coordinators.  Click on the individual Working Group titles to get to these pages.

At the end of each week, the Coordinators of the relevant Working Groups will make a brief summary of work done and ideas generated in the Working Group. About six months later, this work will be collected and collated into a Working Group report which will be included in the Proceedings of WHEPP-XII.
