ICMP09 is being planned from Dec 5 to Dec 23 2009 at the Fountain Hotel Mahabaleshwar in the Sahyadri mountains near Mumbai as a programme that will revolve around roughly a dozen broadly defined themes. The programme will start with the first 7 day section (Dec 5- Dec 12) of the Mahabaleshwar Condensed Matter School, which will feature 4 lecture courses of 5 lectures each, in addition to an evening colloquium series. This will be followed by the 3 day Mahabaleshwar Condensed Matter Conference (Dec 13 to Dec 15). The final 7 days of the programme (Dec 16 Dec 23) will be devoted to the second section of the School with 4 more lecture courses of 5 lectures each, in addition to an evening colloquium series.

Advisory Committee: Ehud Altman, Arindam Ghosh, Brijesh Kumar, Roderich Moessner, Subroto Mukerjee, T.V. Ramakrishnan, Pratap Raychaudhuri, Krishnendu Sengupta, and Vijay Shenoy.

This programme will be held from Dec 5 2009 to Dec 23 2009 at Fountain Hotel, Mahabaleshwar in the Sahyadri mountain range, a scenic five hour drive from Mumbai. The centre-piece of this programme will be the14 day Mahabaleshwar Condensed Matter School. The first half of the school will run from Dec 5 to Dec 12, and the second half will run from Dec 16 to Dec 23. Each half of the school will feature 4 lecture courses of 5 lectures each, that wil be held in the mornings. Afternoons will be largely free for discussion, except for colloquiua on topics related to the focus areas of the school. In addition, there will be an embedded 3 day Mahabaleshwar Condensed Matter Conference from Dec 13 to Dec 15.

Interested students and postdocs may apply for participation by following the registration link at http://www.icts.res.in by June 01 2009 to ensure full consideration, and before July 01 2009 in any case. Priority will be given to participants who will stay for the whole programme, and (domestic) travel and  all local expenses for such participants will be covered.

Faculty interested in participating in the conference may apply by using the registration link on the programme at http://www.icts.res.in preferably by June 01 2009, and before July 01 2009 in any case. It is anticipated that faculty participating in the conference may also be interested in attending one or more sections of the school. Every effort will be made to accomodate such requests, and local expenses will be fully covered.
