Theme topics of the Instructional Worskhop:
(1) Noise-driven directed transport far from equilibrium; from Maxwell's demon to Brownian ratchet;
(2) Effects of interactions on noisy transport: dynamical phases and non-equilibrium phase transitions;
(3) Instabilities in driven systems: collective spatio-temporal patterns;
(4) Kinetics in rugged landscapes and glassiness: from structural and orientational glasses to spin glasses;
(5) Quantum fluctuations and dynamics: annealing, entanglement and computation;
(6) Effects of defects and disorder: noise-induced depinning kinetics and transport.
Theme topics of the Conference:
(a) Fluctuations and noise in biology: effects of interactions and enzymatic kinetics on noisy intracellular transport; noise in gene expression; fluctuations and spatial patterns in living systems and in colonies of organisms; role of fluctuations in origin of life and evolution;
(b) Glassiness and jamming: roles of interactions and fluctuations in transition to-, and relaxation from-, glassy and jammed states of matter; molecular liquids and glasses, spin glasses, colloidal glasses, jamming in granular systems.
(c) Fluctuations and transport in vortex matter: vortex dynamics; ordered and glassy states of vortex matter in macroscopic and mesoscopic superconductors; vortices in
novel systems, driven vortex lattices far from equilibrium.
(d) Quantum fluctuations in condensed matter near absolute zero temperature: quantum phase transitions; quantum fluctuations and disorder; quantum fluctuations and dynamics; optimization, entanglement and computation.
